About Emily

I strongly believe God is calling me to chase after my wildest dreams following where He leads.

I have always had a desire to travel.  I love seeing new places, meeting new people, and eating new food.   In June 2015 after my first mission trip to Guatemala, I believe God was making it clear to me that the reason for my love of traveling was part of his plan for my life.  This is when the thought first crossed my mind that it would be really awesome if I could go somewhere and stay for an extended amount of time as a missionary.

God continued to plant seeds in my heart for serving on an extended mission while taking a second short term mission trip to Guatemala in 2016 and a third short term mission trip to Tanzania in 2017.

It’s hard to explain, but the Lord has had Africa on my heart for a very long time.  Since the age of ten or twelve, I have known that at some point in my life I was going to go to Africa to “hold the babies”.  After spending two weeks at Neema Village, Tanzania, East Africa in February 2017, I knew I needed to find a way to spend more time there.

In April 2017, the Lord opened up the doors for me to accept the volunteer positions of Bookkeeper and Volunteer Coordinator at Neema Village.  Five weeks later after selling my car, renting out my house, and quitting my job, I moved to Tanzania where I have lived ever since.

In January 2019, I accepted the volunteer position of Outreach Coordinator at Neema Village where I continue to serve today.

With every passing day, I learn more about myself and the woman God has created me to be – faithful to Him, confident, organized, passionate, loving, goofy, strong, and willing to say “Here I am Lord, send me, use me, let the world see Your life in me”.

Psalms 16:8 is one of my favorite verses which reads – “I have set the Lord always before me.  Because He is at my right hand, I will not be shaken.”

I believe God doesn’t always call the equipped. He equips the called.  So, I go where He leads trusting He will provide everything I need to complete the work He has called me to do.

My People Say

You’ve heard the term “it takes a village.”  I’ve seen first hand what this saying truly means.  Whether in Africa or America, God didn’t intend for us to do life alone.  To get just about anything done now a days, it really does take a village.  I’m very thankful for the people God has placed in my life who have become my village!

Here are a few words from some of my people!

WHO ARE YOUR HEROES? Emily Broadbent is one of mine. I’ve known her since she was a little girl, and I was blessed with the opportunity of watching her grow up, both physically and spiritually.  This Montana gal felt God’s call to Tanzania, so she packed her bags and now ministers Jesus’ love to children in the area around Arusha, Tanzania. Recently, I had the privilege of hearing her share about the work God is doing in Tanzania, for the orphan, for the widow, and for the villages in the region. Her message was filled with hope and power and joy!!

Do you ever have those people who you know the Lord has just crafted them to be in your life? Well, my person is Emily Broadbent. An encourager, truth-speaker and Light-bearer. Her joy is infectious and her dedication to a life lived in prayerful obedience pushes me closer to Jesus. She is wise beyond her years and passionate about every heart knowing Jesus. Her discerning spirit and commitment to following wherever The Lord may call, has taken her to Africa. Her “normal” looks different than mine and her days are filled with PB&Js and tiny classrooms with 50 kids but her God is the same. Few people live so passionately and follow so closely to what God asks them to do. Proud doesn’t begin to cover it as I stand honored to call this world changer my friend.

It is a blessing for us to be part of Emily Broadbent’s mission to fulfill this scripture.  We are not called to go to Africa, but we can help Emily with her calling.  She has a passion for the people of Tanzania to know Jesus and her love for the people is evident when you read her newsletters.  One day we will get to meet all of the people who Emily has shared the gospel with and who have been introduced to to our Lord Jesus by our support of Emily’s “going into all the world.”

Emily Broadbent is the kind of person who we love having on our Provision International team. Her integrity, passion, and devotion to God’s work are special. In the fall of 2015, I joined a bible study at my friend Larissa’s house. If you haven’t heard the story, once upon a time I sat in her living room after bible study and said, “I just wanna move to Africa for a year.” And, she told me to do it. In the spring of 2016,...
